From January 25-28, 2024, 45 kids aged 10-16 will be hitting the ice at Saiker’s Acres in Sherwood Park, where they will play hockey for 72 hours. These caring and courageous young players aim to raise a total of $500,000  in support of pediatric clinicals through the University of Alberta.

"Cancer is cancer, isn't it? It doesn't matter how old you are, it still sucks!"

Corbin Blatz’s inspiration to sign up for this fundraiser is his Grandpa Gerry. When Corbin was eight years old, his Grandpa was diagnosed with cancer in May 2020 and he courageously fought with all he had until he passed away on September 19, 2020, at age 65.

Corbin has loved hockey since he could walk and has always worn the number 16 – but for this one special weekend in January, he will wear number 11 in honour of his Grandpa Gerry, who wore that same number when he played hockey.
